Ralph the whale shark dies. Read down to the eighth paragraph and there's this unexplained line: "Around 9:30 p.m., the uninsured whale shark abruptly died...." So I guess we can assume he wasn't knocked off for his money.

The History blogsphere is abuzz, of course. This jaywalking thing is the biggest news story to come out of an AHA meeting in years. Next year we might try for public nudity....
For further evidence that the cops have it in for the scholarly community, I note that they shut down the best brothel in town right on the eve of the convention!
