To be fair, she's a total teacher's pet and the teacher told us she's a "role model" for the class. Meaning she's more than happy to tell the other kids when they're doing something wrong.
I must say that her answer is essentially correct. Zero is the additive identity, so by definition the addition of the additive identity to any other number is the original number. In other words, "Be cus thats how it spos to be." If the teacher gives her any trouble, go check out a book on Peano Axioms to bust out at a Paarent/Teacher conference.
Good to know. I'll teach her to say "Because Peano said so."
Better still, tell her to say, "Because Dedekind said so."
